April Fools Badges INTB

This April Fools’ Day, the Facebook posts were coming thick and fast, Funny, clever, and with graphics that make you look twice.

We were told the local CFA were painting their trucks pink and their stations blue, the police were patrolling the streets on kangaroo-back, football teams were changing colours, Bunnings and Vegemite were collaborating to sell massive tubs of Vegemite and trains were being manufactured with ship masts to reduce fuel consumption.

Guide and Scout Leaders were clearly enjoying themselves too. They would have us believe:

  • updated policies require uniforms to be worn backwards
  • a new section of Scouting is being introduced for 2–4 year olds
  • parents are required to volunteer a member of their family to facilitate the Cubs earning the Hair Cutting badge,
  • Joeys are being given leadership roles in older sections
  • Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is helping Scouts find their leaders at large gatherings by including an image of the leader's face on the Scouts' socks

But my favourite posts focused on some very imaginative 'badges' that can be earned.
